Sunday lunch should feel like an occasion, not a queue at a hot plate. At our restaurant in Ballygawley, Sunday lunch is made to order — cooked freshly for your table, not held under heat lamps on a carvery line. If you’re looking for a proper Sunday lunch in Mid Ulster, here’s what makes ours worth booking.
Made to order, not a carvery — and the difference is everything
The carvery has its place, but it isn’t what we do. On a carvery, the food is cooked in bulk hours ahead and kept warm; by the time it reaches you, it’s often tired. Ours is cooked to order — plated freshly for your table when you’re ready to eat, so the vegetables still have life in them and the whole plate arrives the way the kitchen intends it.
It takes a little longer than helping yourself from a counter. That’s rather the point. Sunday lunch here is something to sit down to, not something to grab.
Something to sit down to, not something to grab.
Roasts of the day — and Quinn’s steaks too
The centre of the plate is our roasts of the day — the selection changes with what’s good, so ask your server what’s on — with roast potatoes, creamed potato, a Yorkshire pudding stuffed with beef ragù, seasonal vegetables and gravy.
And the beef we’re known for the rest of the week is on the Sunday menu too: Quinn’s own dry-aged beef, as a 10oz sirloin or an 8oz fillet, for a supplement. Same butcher, same beef, cooked the way you ask for it.
Local produce, cooked seasonally
We cook seasonally and lean on good local produce wherever we can. It’s not a marketing line — it’s simply how you get vegetables that taste of something and a plate that changes gently through the year rather than reading the same in January as in June. When the ingredients are this good, the kitchen’s job is to respect them, not disguise them.
Why you should book ahead
Sunday lunch is one of our busiest services, and because everything is cooked to order rather than pre-loaded onto a carvery, tables are limited and they go. We’d strongly recommend booking ahead — especially for larger family tables and special occasions, which fill first. It’s a local favourite, and the last thing we’d want is to turn you away at the door.
Booking also lets us prepare for you properly: a table away from the door, a quiet corner for a birthday — just tell us when you reserve.
