There’s a particular kind of December evening we look forward to all year: the fire lit, the tables dressed, a room full of people who’ve finished work for the week, and the first plates coming out of the kitchen. If you’re already thinking about where to gather this festive season — the office night out, the family get-together, the meal that finally brings everyone back around one table — we’d love to host you here in Ballygawley.
The Tailor’s House sits right in the middle of County Tyrone, roughly fifteen minutes from Dungannon and half an hour from Omagh, and an easy run for anyone across Mid-Ulster, Cookstown, Aughnacloy or over the Fermanagh way. It’s also a natural stop for people breaking the journey between Belfast and Donegal.
Where to have your Christmas party in County Tyrone
A good Christmas night out is about the room and the welcome as much as the food. We have space for parties of all shapes: the main restaurant for a lively evening, an upstairs function room for up to 50 that suits larger groups and office parties, and a garden room for more private festive dining and smaller gatherings.
Whether it’s a table of six or a full company do, we sit down with you beforehand and shape the evening around your group — the space, the timing, the menu. It’s the attention you get from a family-run house rather than a conveyor-belt Christmas.
Festive dining, cooked to order
Our festive set menu (for groups of six or more) brings together traditional Christmas plates alongside the dishes we’re known for the rest of the year, including Quinn’s dry-aged steak. That steak comes from Quinn’s, our own family butcher, who’ve been at it for over forty years across three generations. Owning the butcher means we choose the cuts and dry-age the beef ourselves, then grill it to order.
Everything is cooked to order — no bain-marie, no carvery queue. Because menus change with the season and are tailored to each group, we send the current festive menu and pricing when you enquire.
Office parties, family gatherings and private festive dining
Office and work Christmas parties are one of the things we do best: a private space, a set menu that keeps things simple to organise, a bar with craft beers, wines and cocktails, and a room that lets people relax. For something more intimate — a milestone birthday, a family Christmas dinner — the garden room gives you a quieter corner of the house to yourselves.
Make a night of it — stay over
We have six four-star boutique guest rooms right above the restaurant, so you can enjoy the evening, then head upstairs to bed. Breakfast is served Saturday and Sunday mornings. Rooms book seven days a week, and they’re often the first thing to go once the party dates fill up.
Why it pays to book early
December fills from October. The best Fridays and Saturdays go early, and the private spaces are usually spoken for well before the month begins. Holding your date costs nothing; the menu, timings and rooms can be sorted at your own pace.
